Diving into Orange Wine

Diving into Orange Wine

Orange wine, often described as the “third wine category,” is created by fermenting white grapes with their skins, similar to how red wines are produced. This ancient technique has roots that trace back thousands of years and has been celebrated for its unique flavors and textures. The result is a captivating wine that displays an amber or orange hue, with a complex profile that can include notes of dried fruit, herbs, and even a slight tannic structure.

What sets orange wine apart is not just its color, but also its versatility in food pairings. The skin contact adds depth and richness, making it an excellent companion to a wide range of dishes, from robust meats to spicy Asian cuisine. During our tasting seminar, we'll explore the fascinating process behind this revival of ancient winemaking methods, sample a selection of notable orange wines, and discuss their growing popularity among wine enthusiasts and chefs alike. Join us to uncover the intriguing world of orange wine and expand your palate!

AMARI TASTING & SEMINAR

If you’ve ever finished a rich Italian meal and been offered a mysterious dark liqueur, chances are you’ve met amaro. The word simply means “bitter” in Italian, but amari (the plural) are anything but simple. These complex herbal liqueurs—made by infusing alcohol with roots, bark, citrus peels, spices, and botanicals—have been crafted for centuries across Italy as aids to digestion and as expressions of regional identity.

Each amaro tells a story: from the Alpine freshness of Braulio to the caramel depth of Averna or the floral citrus lift of Montenegro. Some are light and citrusy, perfect over ice with a twist of orange; others are dark and brooding, meant to be sipped neat after dinner.

Join us for an evening exploring the world of amaro—Italy’s complex and captivating bitter liqueurs. Taste through a curated lineup of styles while learning about their regional origins, unique botanicals, and how to enjoy them in cocktails or on their own.
