Château de la Font du Loup “Meet the Producer” Tasting

Meet Anne Charlotte Melia-Bachas of Château de la Font du Loup and taste some stunning Southern Rhône wines!

Join us on Wednesday, May 29th for a special evening with Anne Charlotte Melia-Bachas of Château de la Font du Loup! Font du Loup can be translated to “Fountain of the Wolf.” The name, according to the Southern Rhône Valley local folk lore, dates back to a time when wolves drank from the various springs located on the property.

It’s also the name of the lieu-dit where many of their vines are planted.

Font du Loup has been in the Melia family since 1942 and is now run by Anne Charlotte Melia-Bachas along with her husband Laurent Bachas.

Chateau Font du Loup owns 19.5 hectares of vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This includes 4 hectares of old vine Grenache that were purchased in 1992. Château Font du Loup is quite unique in that their vineyards are on north-facing slopes and the soils have a high percentage of sand. These north-facing, sandy plots tend to ripen more slowly. As such, they harvest on average two weeks later than other estates. This results in wines that are more complex, aromatic and contain less alcohol. The style here is towards elegance and finesse rather than power and extraction. This style adds a refreshing change of pace to a region whose wines have become a touch heavy.

Don't miss out on this importunity to taste these fantastic wines with the producer! This special evening is limited to 12 participants so sign up today! Only $45 per person!
